There are many things you don't need to know to breastfeed your baby.

Just like in pregnancy, your body knows what to do and starts lactating. Most of the time, breastfeeding goes easily with baby latching, milk magically appearing and early tenderness vanishing after a few days. Your questions resolve with each breastfeeding experience in a happy, easy flow.

But, if you have a question or a problem that lingers or causes pain, you may wonder, "Who do I call?"

You may not realize how much there is to know about breastfeeding until you have a problem.

You may be surprised to learn that your OB/GYN, Pediatrician or other Health Care Provider is not the best person to give you information about breastfeeding and lactation.

Most health care providers, even ones who specialize in babies, are not educated during their training about how breastfeeding works. Many have never even personally breastfed a baby. In addition, each year thousands of studies increase what we know about the human breast, the milk we make and how babies feed.

They can give you unhelpful or even harmful advice that sets you back or makes your situation worse.

Most problems are not difficult to overcome, when you understand how breastfeeding works.

In addition to your OB/GYN and Pediatrician, an IBCLC, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, is a valuable member of your health care team.

Donna Bruschi, IBCLC has the education, training and experience necessary to answer all your questions accurately and help you to resolve any breastfeeding issue. She helps clients resolve all kinds breastfeeding problems from birth to weaning.

If you have a question about your newborn, latch, low milk supply, sore nipples, mastitis, plugged ducts, engorgement, jaundice, breasts, breastfeeding, bras, breast pumps, pumping or breastfed babies, Donna can either help you in the comfort of your home or in her office at New Baby New Paltz.
